I purchased a copy of the DVD by mail and watched it last night. Both of my grandmothers lived in Richmond at the time of the explosion, one of them was in the beauty shop. My Mom's childhood friend was Louise Marting. I was 7 and living in Ohio, and I remember my Grandma's recounts of it. I remember what downtown Richmond looked like before and after. I live in Georgia now, and both of my Grandma's are gone now, but I would love to go back and visit Richmond. Loved going to see the bison in the park, getting spring water from the park with my Great Uncle Omar, visiting the mummy in the museum, going to see the Thanksgiving parades back in the 60's and 70's. One of my Grandpa's and my Uncle Bill worked at Star Piano, and my Grandma's worked at the Hoosier Store and the Presbyterian Church in town.
Thank you to the producers of the film "1:47" for documenting this tragic part of Richmond's history.

I just found your website. I have such a nostalgic feeling about my first city. I was born in Richmond in September, 1938 and moved away around two years later. I visited it often until I was 8 or so and have been back a couple of times since adulthood. The warmth of the city stays with me. I was not aware of the explosion that took place there. I know it had to be a disaster for the entire occupants of the town. Thank you for sharing this so I was able to see it.

I think this website is remarkable. I was a child and in the city that day. I have also read the stories and posted myself. I think it would be graet if all stories could be read, and would hopefully lead people to read from someone they knew all those years ago. I would love to see a link included to contact others through this site. An option to be contacted by others who were there. I feel this would bring people together again that shared this experience.

I am a former Richmond resident and was 7 years old in 1968. Even at 7, I vividly remember the day of the explosion. I did not get a chance to see the documentary and will definitely buy a DVD when they are available.

Are you looking into trying to get the History Channel, TLC, PBS, etc.. to air the documentary? I think it would be great exposure to many people that are not aware of the enormity of the explosion and its affects on the people and City of Richmond.

Thanks.

My mother is a survivor, she never speaks of it. All she's ever said is that she was working in the basement of Knollenberg's when it happened and that she was glad she was wearing the right shoes to get over all of the glass. I know it changed her life, I think this film will help me see a part of her she could never discuss.

I was 13 and at St. Paul's when the explosions occured. I left the church and tried to get to Marting Arms as my father had an antique gun he was restoring. Unbeknownst to me, after dropping me off at the church, my mother asked him to go to another store first. They were two or three stores down the block at 1:47. My mother gave testimony during the investigation.

My family moved away a few months later. I used to travel I-70 between Columbus and Indianapolis, but I could never bring myself to detour through the town. I am very interested in purchasing copies of the film for myself and my brother. Please add me to a mailing list when they will be available.

I was wondering if there is anyway to purchase a copy of the video? I live out of town and cannot make it to the screenings. I have followed the film being made and have family that contributed to the making of the film and would love to see it.
